After a long absence I am back. 5 months ago I lost someone I was very close too.
I am doing better and I thank everyone who was so kind to leave messages here.

This blog is about finding my best hair length. I have not cut/trimmed my hair yet but now I am ready.  I wanted to share some videos of the length so you can get an idea of how long it is and to leave some history behind. I never planned on my hair getting this long, my limit was ankles. It is now about 84" long, way past floor. To be perfectly honest, these videos are from last year and I never had the time or desire to edit and post them until now.

So as I get back into posting here, lets start by seeing the length so I can start my reverse journey. Although my hair is slightly longer than in these videos it will show you a good example. Honestly, its just too long. I never wear it down and I can't stand stepping on it.
It needs a good trim. Long hair is not all about "the longest"and I will be happier when it is at a more manageable and practical length. So a little at a time (possibly months between trims) I will be finding my best length and sharing thoughts about it through this blog including photo's and videos.
I will still have long hair and I never plan on cutting it short. It's been an amazing journey to this length. I have learned so much and had so much fun sharing and meeting others with long hair interest.

Health over length now! Are you with me?

Here is my hair curled. It just shows up better on video when it is curled!

And one making a ponytail with the curls when they loosened up later in the day.

Thank you for your patience!

  1. Yes it reaches a stage where you can't even enjoy it because it gives you more trouble than pleasure. Not being able to wear it down for starters. So yes health first. My limit is knee and if I ever get there I might trim it back to classic or mtl but I am super excited you are back and can't wait for the videos and progress.

    1. Yes I am not enjoying the length and will tell more about it in post #10 about the challenges etc. Knee is a great length and was my original goal. Your hair is beautiful!

  2. It is so good to see you posting again, and so much better to know you are well!

I look forward to all of your new posts and content! Having followed your journey growing your hair so long, it will he a bit strange to follow it in reverse, but, as always, I support ya, and I understand why you're doing it. I might flinch the first few times the scissors descend, but a supporter I will always be!

  10. So glad to see you again. I enjoyed your participation several years ago at The Long Hair Community forum. Everybody pays attention when you talk about hair because yours is so unbelievably gorgeous.

In somewhat of a similar situation as you have gone though, I was my parent's caregiver during the years before they passed.

I expected stress as their caregiver, but the unacceptable stress caused by a conniving sibling affected me more and it lingered.

I finally got over it early this year and then 4 months ago, more than half my hair fell out all at once. The circumference of my ponytail is now one inch.

Even though it was shocking on the day it fell out, my hair loss has otherwise been a remarkably stress-free event. Maybe it's because there are things I can do about it, such as wearing hats and wigs.

My rat-tail is skinny, but thanks to the 2 inch Amish and Bunheads pins, I can contain it in a tiny bun.

The future is bright. Take good care of yourself.

    1. Thank you for sharing your sad story. It is so unbelievably stressful to care for a terminally Ill parent to the end. It is so heartbreaking. I lost a lot of hair too but not as severe as yours.I had help from a family member but it was so stressful for him that it made things harder for me.I did not want to cut my hair for fear of bad luck and also my focus was not on my hair at all.
I still post at LHC once in a while and I appreciate what you said so much because I was not sure how I was looked upon over there.
I hope and pray that you gain some thickness again and can start over with your long hair. Once when I was 17 I lost half of my hair due to illness and had to cut it to my shoulders. Don't give up!
